Solar for your industry

Packaging Manufacturers

Packaging plants run long shifts, big motors, compressors and heat-sealing equipment, and every kilowatt-hour shows up on the utility bill. Leaders in packaging, including R.A Jones and Wrap-Tite, have turned their rooftops into power plants with Melink Solar. Success Story

R.A Jones

R.A Jones designs and builds primary and secondary packaging machinery for beverage, food, dairy, pharmaceutical, consumer goods and industrial brands worldwide. What began as an employee-driven sustainability initiative became the first solar installation among Coesia’s U.S. companies.

SOLAR SOLUTIONS In partnership with Melink Solar, R.A Jones installed 3,773 solar panels across the roof of its manufacturing facility in Covington, Kentucky. The 1.69 MW ballasted roof-mount system generates more than 2.12 million kWh each year, meeting about 54% of the facility’s energy needs. The project also added six EV charging stations that employees use for free.

RESULT R.A Jones expects to save an estimated $6.4 million over the system’s 30-year life. The array offsets 2,310 tons of CO2, equal to roughly 5 million miles of gasoline car travel or 38,507 trees planted.

“At R.A Jones, what started as an employee idea turned into a game-changing decision for our future. We’re saving energy, money, and contributing to a more sustainable world.”

Jonathon Titterton

Harness Solar Power to Run Your Plant

Your roof is already working. Put it to work making power.

Packaging facilities are a natural fit for solar. Large, flat warehouse and production roofs host big arrays without using a square foot of floor space. Daytime production schedules line up with the hours solar produces the most. And steady, predictable loads make savings easier to forecast.

How We Work

We are a full-service commercial solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) firm delivering turnkey projects, so your team stays focused on production while we handle design, permitting, utility interconnection, installation and monitoring.

Invest in Solar, Protect Your Margins

In packaging, margins are measured in fractions of a cent per unit, and energy is one of the few costs you can lock in for decades. Every kilowatt-hour your roof produces is one you don’t buy from the utility, so savings start the day the system turns on. Over a 25- to 30-year system life, that adds up: R.A Jones expects an estimated $6.4 million in savings from its array.

Solar also takes some of the guesswork out of budgeting. With utility rates trending upward, generating a large share of your own power gives you a more predictable cost base, freeing up capital for equipment, people and growth.

Give Your Customers a Greener Supply Chain

The food, beverage, pharmaceutical and consumer goods brands you supply are under growing pressure to cut emissions across their supply chains, and many now ask their packaging partners what they’re doing. On-site solar is one of the most visible, measurable answers you can give: a real system on your roof with production data to back it up.

Wrap-Tite

Wrap-Tite, a packaging and shipping supplies manufacturer in Solon, Ohio, went solar as part of its commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship. Its 131 kW rooftop system of 296 panels generates about 162,000 kWh a year, covering 84% of the building’s electricity while lowering operating costs.
